The Premier League season is only three days old but Manchester City are already feeling the injury pinch.
As has become the norm, Pep Guardiola hasn’t had a fully strength squad at his disposal yet, though one reason for that has been due to his decision to hand Rodri some extra time off.
Yet, Manchester City have already suffered several injuries with Phil Foden and Savinho missing games while Nathan Ake has now suffered a tough setback.
It hasn’t stopped City from enjoying a fantastic start to the new campaign with three wins out of three and nine goals scored already.
The Blues sit at the top of the Premier League table and will be aiming to stay there when they take on Brentford on their return to action on Saturday.
Here’s the latest City injury news ahead of the game.

Nathan Ake

City’s first major casualty of the new season has come in the form of Nathan Ake, who picked up a serious-looking thigh strain while on international duty.
The defender went down clutching his hamstring in the 44th minute of the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw with Germany and had to be stretchered off the field. Sadly, he is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Latest update: Guardiola said on September 13: “Injured. I think it will be until the next international break.
“We are unlucky with Nathan in the international team, every time he goes there he comes back injured.”
Potential return date: October 20 vs Wolves
Erling Haaland

Though he has been in training this week, Erling Haaland is a doubt for the match against Brentford as he may choose to take compassionate leave following the death of close family friend Ivar Eggja.
Latest update: Guardiola said on September 13: “It’s a tough moment for him and his family, it was sad, sad news.
“Our thoughts are with him and all his family and we’ll see tomorrow if he’s able mentally and physically to play.”
Phil Foden

It’s been a slow start to the season for Phil Foden after he was named on the bench for the opening win over Chelsea and missed the following two games with illness.
The forward also pulled out of the England squad as he recovered from his ailment but has thankfully returned to training this past week and should be available for Saturday.
Latest update: Guardiola said on September 13: “They’re [other players] good, they train. Very good.”
Potential return date: September 14 vs Brentford
Savinho

Savinho has become an immediate fan favourite after his impressive first two games for the club, exciting with his mazy dribbling and effectiveness in the final third.
The Brazilian was ruled out of the victory over West Ham with a knee injury but it was only thought to be minor and he, too, is in contention to play against Brentford.
