Nedum Onuoha isn’t happy with what he’s heard one Man City player say now

Manchester City’s players have had a lot to smile about in recent years.

After winning the Treble in the 2022/23 season, Pep Guardiola’s side followed that up by becoming the first team to win a fourth consecutive Premier League trophy.

In addition to that, City also won the UEFA SuperCup and the FIFA Club World Cup last season.

Despite having a lot to celebrate, one player in the squad has been speaking out recently hinting that he may not be completely satisfied at the Etihad Stadium, which has since led to one pundit and former City player having his say on the matter.

Nedum Onuoha reacts to Julian Alvarez’s comments on Man City future

After Julian Alvarez recently told TyC Sports that while he knows he played a lot of minutes for City last season he didn’t like being left out for important matches, Fabrizio Romano then shared a post on his official X account claiming that the striker will be discussing his future at the Manchester club in the coming days.

This has since led to Nedum Onuoha sharing his thoughts on Alvarez’s situation and what the future could hold for him in a recent video uploaded to the ESPN FC YouTube channel.

He said: “Personally, I’d like him to stay, but I think I can understand where he’s coming from. Because at the start of the season, he was, I think, one of the more regular starters, that’s why he had so many minutes within the team.

“But he’s right because by the end of the season, I think Guardiola tends to settle up on a side or maybe 12 or 13 players who he uses in those big moments, and unfortunately for Alvarez, he wasn’t a starter.

“That must have been hugely disappointing for him because he was a big part of what led to that back end of the season and we’ve seen it many times we’ve spoken about it, this is a World Cup winner, this is a Copa America winner, this is a League winner, Champions League winner.

“He’s done it all, but at some point, these guys, they know they’re good enough to play week in, week out, but unfortunately for the way things are at Man City, there are a few people who are never guaranteed that and unfortunately for him, the person who he’s playing up against essentially is Erling Haaland, somebody who scored nearly 100 goals in the last two seasons

“I hope that he stays, I hope he can find more game time somehow but I think this is probably going to be the start of a conversation for many people because for the options that City have in attack, I think this year there are going to be lots of disappointed faces.”

Alvarez needs to make a decision

Even though the striker appeared in more Premier League games (36) than any other City player last season, he didn’t start any of their final four of the campaign.

He also didn’t start in the FA Cup final against Manchester United or either of the two Champions League quarter-final matches against Real Madrid.

In response to these comments from the Argentine, Guardiola said that he knows Alvarez wants to play more but so do others in the squad.

He also added that once the 24-year-old makes a decision about his future, he will let them know.

In our view, to put an end to any speculation or disruption in the squad, we feel that Alvarez needs to make a final decision about whether he wants to stay or leave as soon as possible so City can make suitable next steps.
