Manchester City were dealt a big injury blow just before their 2024/25 Premier League season kicked off.

After completing the full 90 minutes of City’s Community Shield victory over Manchester United, Oscar Bobb fractured his leg in training.

Following this, Pep Guardiola said that Bobb required surgery for this injury and would likely be out of action for three to four months.

Now though, with the first international break of the season now underway, the winger’s international manager has shared an update about what he’s heard from the City player about his injury recently.

Norway manager shares Oscar Bobb injury update

Speaking to Fotbal Norge, Norway manager Stale Solbakken had this to say about Bobb’s injury recovery.

He said: “He has been in rehabilitation in Barcelona and has been followed up, everything is fine. I spoke with him on the phone ten days ago, and he was surprisingly positive. He is counting down the days.”

Bobb’s injury came at the worst time

In his first season as a regular figure in the senior City squad, the 21-year-old scored two goals and delivered two assists in 26 appearances across all competitions, seven of which he started.

Then in City’s pre-season tour of America, Bobb scored two goals and three assists across the handful of games he appeared in.

The Norwegian then delivered a Man of the Match performance in the Community Shield against United, after which Ian Wright dubbed Bobb an “exciting” player.

This further highlights how much of a blow it was for the attacker to pick up such a serious injury at a time when he was in a good run of form ahead of the new league campaign.

Now that the Norway manager has shared how positive Bobb feels about his recovery and how the rehabilitation has gone so far, this should delight Guardiola and a lot of City supporters.
