This comes from journalist Michael Plant on Twitter, after it was claimed on Thursday that the £60 million (Telegraph) man had agreed personal terms to sign for Xavi’s side.
However, this revelation has been deemed untrue, with Manchester City full-back revealed not to be edging close to a transfer to Barcelona.

But after Cancelo’s much-reported rift with Guardiola last season, it seems inevitable that he will be sold by the treble-winners in the summer.
However, it has been reported that this does not indicate that Manchester City and Barcelona have moved any closer towards agreeing a transfer for Joao Cancelo.

For Manchester City, to get a seemingly unwanted player in Joao Cancelo off their books by selling him to Barcelona would be ideal.
Not only due to the potential row between the Portuguese international and Pep Guardiola but also due to how he simply does not fit into his side’s pragmatic setup anymore.
However, Cancelo remains one of, if not the best full-back in the world to this day.
For the Catalan juggernaut to address a priority position such as right-back by bringing in a player of his quality would be a major relief.
