‘Nothing done or imminent’: PSG are not even close to signing Man City’s £34m Gundogan replacement – Romano

It has been reported that PSG are actually not closing in on the signing of Gabri Veiga, who has been linked with a transfer to Manchester City.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Monday that the Ligue 1 giants had ‘made progress’ in the race to sign the Celta Vigo midfielder.

However, this has been deemed untrue, as it seems like PSG are still competing with Manchester City to sign Gabri Veiga.

Fabrizio Romano: PSG not leading race to sign Manchester City-linked gem Gabri Veiga

Last Wednesday, it was reported that Pep Guardiola’s men had entered the race to sign the 21-year-old, who has a £34.3 million release clause in his contract.

The Spaniard was seemingly considered as an alternative to Declan Rice, who was initially viewed as the midfielder to come in and replace Ilkay Gundogan.

However, this plan seemed to have gone out of the window, as PSG looked like they had emerged as the frontrunners to sign Manchester City-linked sensation Gabri Veiga.

Until Fabrizio Romano poured cold water over this speculation by replying to a fan about the Parisians’ chances of signing the youngster by saying, “Nothing done or imminent.”

The highly-rated talent would surely rather sign for Manchester City

Now that it seems like Manchester City and PSG are equally likely to sign the silky technician, surely the player in question would rather join the treble-winners.

Simply put, the English juggernaut offer a much clearer and proven track record of long-term success than the French giants.

While both clubs are known to be financial powerhouses, the difference remains that City’s recruitment and decision-making from top to bottom is world-class.

The same cannot be said for PSG, who continue to lay a blueprint on how not to run an elite club.

With the Sky Blues also having Pep Guardiola at their disposal and having won the lot, Veiga would consider a move to Manchester as a no-brainer, at least from a logical standpoint.
