Kyle Walker praised Phil Foden for the season he is having after Manchester City blew Manchester United away in a 3-1 victory.

A couple of days ago, Tim Sherwood heralded the 23-year-old’s displays as “magnificent” this season.

Ahead of the much-awaited contest between the two Manchester clubs, John Stones also claimed that the Stockport-born midfielder has “gone up a level” this campaign.

Kyle Walker says Phil Foden is having a “first-class” season after Manchester City beat Manchester United

Mark Schwarzer heaped praise on the versatile attacker for being in the “form of his career.”

When players are as in form as Foden has been during the 2023/2024 season, all eyes are on them to see if they step up in the biggest of games or whether they flatter to deceive.

As Phil Foden shone for Manchester City against Manchester United once again, Kyle Walker was full of praise for him for the glorious season he is enjoying.

“This season, Phil [Foden] has been nothing short of first-class. That’s the standard he sets for himself. That’s the standard the manager sets for him. He needs to keep that up now”, he told Sky Sports after the contest.

Phil Foden needs to listen to his club captain’s key piece of advice

Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has raised an interesting point about Phil Foden needing to maintain such high standards after his side’s crucial win against Manchester United.

As incredible as Foden has been, the job is far from done for City across all fronts this season.

For the five-time Premier League winner to have a potentially legendary season, he must deliver as he did on Sunday in several of the biggest games.

There is no question that Phil Foden can do so, as he has done in years gone by but as Kyle Walker stated, it is important for his countryman to do so as one of the key men at the Etihad Stadium.

At the end of the day, senior players like Walker will always likely push Foden to keep getting better and better, which will only get the best out of him.
