It seems like out of most European clubs, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side have one of the clearest plans in place about their transfer activity this summer.

It was claimed on Thursday that Guardiola and Txiki Begirstain have decided City’s transfer plans — not making any further adjustments to their squad — both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

The report also stated that neither do Manchester City intend to sign a new striker to replace Julian Alvarez, nor are they willing to send Matheus Nunes out on loan or his sale.

On Friday’s transfer deadline day, several clubs around Europe will be trying to get last-minute deals over the line.

Txiki Begiristain admitted City’s squad is deep enough to compete in the UEFA Champions League’s new format alongside playing in other three competitions.

With the amount of football that Pep Guardiola’s men are accustomed to playing every season coupled with how versatile a lot of their players are, the club’s sporting director’s confidence is certainly not misplaced.

But other clubs have tried to sign players from the Etihad Stadium in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Report shares Nottingham Forest and James McAtee transfer revelation

It was reported on Monday that Atletico Madrid were targeting Matheus Nunes’ signing on loan.

However, Nunes’ mind stays set on City being the club where he wishes to make a name for himself.

Similarly, James McAtee has emerged as a transfer target for a whole host of clubs around Europe.

Ben Foster hailed McAtee as “fantastic” — who came off the bench in City’s latest 4-1 win against Ipswich Town.

The 21-year-old started in the FA Community Shield against Manchester United and was an unused substitute in the Sky Blues’ 2-0 victory against Chelsea.

The Daily Mail have revealed that Premier League clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Southampton as well as other sides like Stuttgart, Celtic, Lille, Lens and Feyenoord have all approached Manchester City to sign McAtee either on loan or permanently.

However, City are believed to have rejected all such approached, with the Salford-born midfielder set to stay at the club.

McAtee admission made it clear he was set for Man City stay

McAtee admitted he intended to follow in Phil Foden’s foosteps and wait for his chance in the side.

The Englishman also stated that he is not “fussed about minutes” this season and instead, learn from some of the best players and manager in the world.

Furthermore, Pep Guardiola claimed McAtee was ready for first-team football at Manchester City.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that even a loan move to Nottingham Forest, who could potentially survive this season did not appeal to the youngster after his previous spell at Sheffield United.

McAtee seems to be patient and hopes to become a regular starter at his boyhood club one day.

It will be interesting to discover how his season pans out.
