Branded as ‘incredible’ by Declan Rice (via Evening Standard), the Brazilian midfielder could be brought in by the treble-winners after Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term injury.

In fact, it was claimed on Thursday that Pep Guardiola is personally interested in signing him after the Belgian’s absence.

Now, it has been revealed that Manchester City are ‘on the verge’ of launching a bid worth £80 million to sign Lucas Paqueta.

However, West Ham are demanding the English juggernaut to fork out a fee as high as £85 million to prise away the versatile operator.

Kevin De Bruyne’s latest injury is believed to have prompted the Sky Blues to go ahead and try to seal the deal.

Lucas Paqueta deal must be sealed imminently by the Sky Blues

From a Manchester City point of view, one hopes that the bid is accepted by West Ham and Lucas Paqueta makes his way to the Etihad Stadium as soon as possible.

While Pep Guardiola’s men come alive during the business end of the season, Arsenal, who look like their likeliest challengers for the Premier League crown are unlikely to capitulate in the manner they did last season.

As a result, it would be ideal if City do not let the Gunners run away with a sizable lead as it may be far too much of an ask to chase them down this time around.

For that to be the case, signings, especially as multifunctional as Lucas Paqueta would help them either dominate or at least lurk behind Arsenal until Kevin De Bruyne returns to full fitness.
