Oscar Bobb shares how he felt when he first made it into Man City’s senior side

Manchester City have seen numerous players emerge from the youth ranks to become first-team figures in recent years.

For example, names such as Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer have all spent time in City’s academy before appearing in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Another player to follow in similar footsteps is Oscar Bobb, who after joining the Manchester club’s youth side back in 2019, made his senior debut as a regular first-team figure last season.

Ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season, the winger has shed some light on what it was like for him to get his first taste of training with City’s senior squad prior to the previous campaign.

Oscar Bobb reflects on early senior Man City training sessions

Appearing in a recent video shared on the Rising Ballers YouTube channel, Bobb said this about his first venture into training with City’s senior team.

He said: “I remember coming into the first team for the first time, I think it was when David Silva was here and they needed a lot of players, so me and some of the other young boys came up.

“I was very nervous, but at the same time very excited. You’re always watching the first team play, whether it’s in the stadium or on TV so you already know the level is world-class so I wasn’t too surprised.”

Bobb knows all about the quality City have

Across the previous campaign, Bobb started seven of the 26 games he appeared in across all competitions.

Having scored two goals and delivered two assists last season, the winger will now be aiming to become a more prominent figure in Guardiola’s side.

In fact, the City boss described the winger as being “electric” after seeing him in action during the recent pre-season match against AC Milan, which shows that Bobb doesn’t need to convince Guardiola about his ability.

Now that the 21-year-old has shared how familiar he has been with how high the quality is in City’s squad, this shows the level he knows he has to reach and maintain if he wants to be a regular starter.
