Manchester City are back in action this weekend as they look to break their winless streak.
Specifically, off the back of five defeats and a draw, City will be taking on Premier League leaders Liverpool away from home on Sunday.
Unfortunately for Pep Guardiola’s side, they have only won twice at Anfield across the entire Premier League era.
In addition to that, a defeat on Sunday would see Liverpool increase the points gap between them and City to 11.
Following Tuesday’s 3-3 draw with Feyenoord, Ilkay Gundogan said Liverpool is a must-win game for City in terms of their hunt to win the Premier League title.
Looking ahead to this big showdown against Arne Slot’s side, the City manager has shared an honest answer about the current fitness of his squad.

Guardiola shares honest injury update
When asked in his latest press conference if he knows if any players in his squad will be making a return from injury on Sunday or if any will be unavailable to take on the Reds due to fitness issues, the manager admitted he didn’t know any specifics details on the matter.
Specifically, Guardiola said the fitness of his players would be checked later on Friday as the group has only just got back together following Tuesday’s Champions League draw.
Who is likely to be unavailable for City against Liverpool?
In addition to the likes of Oscar Bobb and Rodri who are still recovering from long-term injuries, City are also set to be without Mateo Kovacic, who got injured on international duty earlier this month.
Aside from that, City fans, for now, will have to assume that everyone who was in the matchday squad for the Feyenoord game will be fit enough to travel to Anfield and potentially feature against the Reds.
From Liverpool’s injury perspective, Slot revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit enough to start against City following his recent hamstring problem.

Regardless of injury problems in both teams, this is definitely a game City cannot afford to lose given the gap between them and Liverpool at the top of the league table.
