Pep Guardiola told Man City now have a player apart from Erling Haaland who’s a superstar, it’s not Rodri

Over the years, Manchester City have had plenty of players who could be considered superstars.

The manner in which Napoli fans mobbed Kevin De Bruyne after he arrived to undergo his medical before signing for the Italian giants goes to show how revered the midfielder is globally.

Erling Haaland claimed Sergio Aguero betters him as a striker, which illustrates how exceptional a player the Argentine was.

The Manchester City goalscorer himself is one of the biggest names the game has to offer.

Gabby Agbonlahor says Man City midfielder Phil Foden is a superstar

With Rodri winning the Ballon d’Or, the Spaniard’s name is etched in the history books as an all-time great.

Another budding megastar at City could well be Rayan Cherki, who has earned praise from Kylian Mbappe amongst many and at 21 years of age, the sky is the limit for the youngster.

On talkSPORT, Gabriel Agbonlahor was asked about a potential lack of superstars in the Premier League, he named Phil Foden as one of the English top-flight’s big names.

“We do have superstars. I mean, look at the season Foden had two seasons ago. Look at this season, at least in the first half, what [Cole] Palmer did, what [Erling] Haaland’s doing, what Harry Kane did.”

Phil Foden’s wages and social media following

While Foden has largely walked the walk on the pitch, which justifies Gabriel Agbonlahor’s claim, players often attain superstar status for what they do off the pitch as well.

With Foden earning £225,000-a-week in wages, the 25-year-old is one of the highest-paid players at Manchester City.

The Englishman also has a combined 14 million followers on social media, with 12.6 million on Instagram and 1.6 million on X that shows how many eyes he has on him.

As a result, Foden can be classed as one of the Premier League’s biggest selling points when it comes to their star players, alongside the likes of Haaland, Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer and others.
