There is a lot of excitement around Manchester City’s newest signing, Sverre Nypan.

The Premier League giants agreed to sign the midfielder from Rosenborg weeks ago, but last Thursday, Man City announced the arrival of Nypan as part of a £12.5m deal.

The Norwegian ticks many boxes for the Manchester club, as the 18-year-old is a young talent who has a bright future ahead of him, while Nypan is also considered a first-team player by Man City, as the youngster has already played plenty of senior matches with Rosenborg.

It remains to be seen what Nypan can achieve at Man City; however, a new detail about the player and his family has just emerged that should have supporters excited.

Sverre Nypan’s career has been planned like Erling Haaland’s

Roar Vikvang, a former academy coach at Rosenborg, recently spoke highly of Nypan by praising the new Man City player’s mentality, and he has now provided another detail about the 18-year-old that will please fans.

Manchester Evening News journalist, Tyrone Marshall, recently stated that he spoke with the former Rosenborg academy coach about Nypan, with the Norwegian stating that the 18-year-old has a good team around him, who have been planning his career in a similar way to Erling Haaland.

“I spoke to Rosenborg’s former Academy manager not long before we did this podcast. He said his biggest strength, he felt his biggest strength was his mentality, but technically he was a brilliant footballer,” Marshall said on Talking City – Manchester City Podcast.

“Rosenborg signed him at 14, he said even then there were big European clubs interested in him, and made the point that he felt his family have always had a very clear plan for him, that they’ve regularly turned down interest with the view to playing games with Rosenborg, developing with Rosenborg and then moving now at 18.

“It’s a very well thought-through career with his family, not just jumping at the first big club or big offer that comes along.”

Haaland’s career has also been strategically planned this way, and the results of that have been very positive for everyone who has been associated with the Norwegian superstar.

Erling Haaland’s exceptionally planned career

Haaland has been a hit wherever he played, a career which began at Bryne, where the young striker made just 16 appearances before moving on to Molde, where the superstar produced 20 goals, alongside six assists, during 50 appearances for the Norwegian giants.

That earned the 25-year-old a big move to Red Bull Salzburg, where the Norway international tore up Austrian football in a short space of time, producing 29 goals and seven assists in just 27 matches.

That earned Haaland a move to Borussia Dortmund, which is arguably the most important transfer of his career. The striker became a star in Germany during his two years, scoring 86 goals and assisting a further 23 within 89 matches.

His displays earned him a mega move to the Etihad Stadium in 2022, where the Norwegian star has continued to develop ever since. Haaland has already scored 124 goals for Man City across the 146 matches he has played, and many more are set to come over the coming years.

Haaland’s family have helped him make the right moves at the perfect time, which has led to him becoming one of the best players in the world, which is also the hope for Nypan.
