Manchester City have started their hunt to win a fifth consecutive Premier League title on a strong note.

With three matches played against Chelsea, Ipswich Town and West Ham United, Pep Guardiola’s side have won all of them, scoring nine goals in total.

In the midst of the first international break of the season, City find themselves at the top of the league table with the same number of points as Liverpool, although the Blues have scored more goals than Arne Slot’s side (7).

At this stage of the campaign, a pundit has pinpointed one particular figure from City’s squad who he feels looks in better shape than most other players in the Premier League, for one specific reason.

Stan Collymore shares why Erling Haaland has looked so good this season

While discussing the subject of the significant number of games across the football landscape nowadays, Stan Collymore had this to say about Erling Haaland and what sort of shape he’s been in so far this season.

He said: “There is an absolutely ridiculous amount of football played in a season nowadays and players, despite being in peak physical condition, just can’t cope with it.

“This was proven by several lacklustre displays in the Euros.

“There is a reason Erling Haaland looks like a beast compared to other big-name strikers. He’s 100 per cent fit and fresh after having the summer off following Norway’s failure to qualify for the Euros.”

Haaland has certainly benefited from his summer break

This isn’t the first time the 24-year-old has been highlighted for how he’s started this season, as Ian Wright said earlier this week that Haaland looks very efficient and clinical.

As Collymore highlighted, Haaland was able to have a longer summer break than some of his other City teammates due to Norway not being involved in the 2024 European Championship.

Having scored five goals in City’s pre-season tour of America, the striker has gone on to find the back of the net seven times across the club’s opening three Premier League games of the season.

With all of that in mind, it’s safe to say that Haaland has benefited from having a big summer break and having the ideal preparation for the season.
