Pundit drops verdict on Man City’s chances of signing Jamal Musiala

Manchester City have reportedly had Jamal Musiala on their transfer radar for this summer window.

In terms of incoming transfers, City have seen Savinho arrive at the Etihad Stadium after striking a deal to sign him from Troyes.

Pep Guardiola’s side have also been linked with numerous players across Europe, including Musiala, who The Guardian claimed back in April is a trip target for the Blues.

Now though, with a few weeks remaining until the window closes, one pundit connected to German football has shared his thoughts on the likelihood of the Premier League champions landing a deal for the Bayern Munich star.

Pundit shares Man City’s chances of signing Jamal Musiala

In a recent post shared on his X account, pundit Jan Aage-Fjortoft had this to say about the possibility of City securing a transfer deal for Musiala during this window.

He said: “Musiala to City is a long shot….can’t see it happens this summer.”

City may have to break the bank for Musiala

At the age of 21, Musiala has made 163 senior appearances for Bayern, scoring 43 goals, delivering 31 assists and winning numerous trophies along the way.

Over the summer, the midfielder scored three goals in five appearances for Germany during the 2024 European Championship.

Earlier this week, journalist Christian Falk hinted that there is a potential plan at City to sign the Germany international as a future replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

Taking into account how young he is, what he offers on the pitch in terms of goal contributions from midfield and the fact that he still has a couple of years left on his contract at the German club, we feel that it would potentially cost City a lot of money to sign him.

This could be why Fjortoft sees it being a long shot for the Blues to do so in this current window, especially when they already have a lot of top-level midfielders in their squad.
