Don Hutchison has said that Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden was in the groove during his side’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
The pundit briefly hailed Foden’s performance on Premier League Productions’ The Weekend Wrap show.
The 23-year-old assisted Jack Grealish’s well-taken opener with a magnificent through ball, which was described as a “lovely, little pass” by Neil Lennon.
Don Hutchison says Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden was “off the charts” against Crystal Palace
However, Pep Guardiola did mention the fact that the Englishman being dispossessed in the build-up to Michael Olise’s last-gasp penalty was a sign of poor game management from his side.
Similarly, Jack Grealish looked visibly annoyed with his countryman for failing to press Marc Guehi, whose lofted pass ultimately resulted in Jean-Philippe Mateta’s opening goal on Saturday.
But Don Hutchison believes Phil Foden was in fine form for Manchester City against Crystal Palace.

“Phil Foden was off the charts good”, he said on Premier League Productions’ The Weekend Wrap show.
Every time Phil Foden plays as a left-sided midfielder, he performs
While Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish’s reasons for being potentially miffed at Phil Foden are justified, Don Hutchison is also right in saying that he was brilliant against Crystal Palace for Manchester City.
This season in particular, it seems like the versatile attacker has found his best position and that is as a left-sided midfielder.
The more advanced a role Foden receives in the half-spaces on the left-hand side, the more effective he seems to be.
Be it against Crystal Palace or both the games in the Champions League against RB Leipzig this season, Phil Foden has looked impeccable in that position.
The same can be said for Foden’s mesmeric showing against Chelsea in his side’s 4-0 win in the FA Cup during the 2022/2023 campaign.
However, the five-time Premier League winner still needs to better his game from a defensive point of view.
