Danny Murphy has pointed out that Phil Foden looks like a match-winner nowadays.
Murphy named the 23-year-old as his Man of the Match after Manchester City’s latest 2-0 win against Newcastle United as well.
In February, Pep Guardiola also hailed the Englishman for becoming a “decisive” presence in his side in terms of singlehandedly winning his boyhood club games this season.
Danny Murphy says Phil Foden has become a “match-winner” now
After City’s 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth, in which Foden scored the winner in the first half, Guardiola described him as “world-class” as well.
The decorated technician is having a season to remember, with Rio Ferdinand crowning him as the Premier League’s best player this campaign a few weeks ago.
As Manchester City got the job done against Newcastle United on Saturday, Danny Murphy hailed Phil Foden as a match-winner while praising his performance in the FA Cup quarter-final as well.

“[Phil] Foden has been magnificent and his performances have got progressively better as the season has gone on. He looks like a match-winner nearly every time he plays. He is a joy to watch”, he said on BBC Sport.
Phil Foden showed his class once again in Manchester City’s FA Cup win against Newcastle
As Danny Murphy claimed, Phil Foden looked like the danger man for Manchester City against Newcastle and the same can be said about his presence in countless games this season.
Starting as City’s number 10 in Kevin De Bruyne’s absence, the Stockport-born attacker did not have to get a goal or an assist to look like the best player on the pitch.
Every time Phil Foden received the ball in the central pockets of space, he wreaked havoc by either fashioning a chance, driving past Newcastle’s midfield, producing a jaw-dropping skill or looking like a goal threat.
Apart from producing moments that would look like a treat in his end-of-the-season highlights package, Foden also did the basics against the Magpies by controlling the rhythm of the game and making the right decisions.
It seems like taking over proceedings comes naturally to the five-time Premier League winner and he proved that is the case once again while being a thorn in Newcastle’s side.
