Real Madrid believe they could sign Yan Couto from Manchester City as a result of his contract situation at the Etihad Stadium.
That is according to José Félix Díaz of Spanish news outlet Marca.
So, what is the situation involving Real Madrid and Yan Couto? Let’s take a look…
Real Madrid think they could sign Yan Couto
Well, it was Marca who recently claimed that Real Madrid would like to sign the Brazil international as a replacement for Dani Carvajal.
Now – however – Díaz has added further details.
Bernabeu Digital quote the Spanish journalist as saying: “At the moment they are seeing that he is a player who is evolving in a brutal way, and that his contractual situation is favourable to try him out. He has a contract until 2025 with Manchester City. It seems that there has been an attempt at renewal. He likes Real Madrid.”

Couto is currently on loan at Girona – where he has helped the Spanish side sit top of La Liga with one goal and seven assists this season.
However, when the South American returns to the Etihad Stadium this summer, he will only have 12 months remaining on his contract, hence why Real Madrid hold a shred of optimism about signing him.
Manchester City could lose Yan Couto
In our view, Couto may push for a move to Real Madrid if a bid arrives – especially as Kyle Walker sits ahead of him in the pecking order at Manchester City.
The 21-year-old has already admitted that his dream move is a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, so it would not surprise us whatsoever if a deal materialised this summer.

It is simply up to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola to make Couto feel wanted, while outlining a clear passage into the first-team for him.
If that does not happen this summer, then an exit could materialise for the £5.5m man.
