Real Madrid now want to sign Yan Couto from Manchester City as the Brazilian continues to shine on loan at Girona.

That is according to Marca.

So, what is the situation involving Real Madrid and Yan Couto? Let’s take a look…

Real Madrid want Yan Couto

Well, the Brazil international only recently admitted that he would love to play for Real Madrid one day.

Now – according to Marca – the Spanish giants are keen to sign Couto.

Manchester City signed the South American from Coritiba in a deal worth £5.5m back in 2020 – and have since sent the defender on loan to Girona, Braga and now Girona once again.

Couto has been a sensation in his most recent stint at the Spanish side, scoring one goal while also providing seven assists as Girona remarkably sit top of La Liga.

Interestingly, the 21-year-old has never actually made an appearance under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, although Real Madrid have been left impressed enough by his performances at Girona to see him as someone who could replace Dani Carvajal.

Manchester City have a decision to make this summer

Couto is contracted to Manchester City until the summer of 2025 – so the Citizens have some thinking to do this summer.

Real Madrid – and also AC Milan – are sniffing around the Brazilian, so if Manchester City do not offer him a new contract this summer, when he will only have 12 months remaining on his deal, an exit could happen.

If not, Manchester City run the risk of losing Couto for free in 2025.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation.

If Guardiola decides to integrate Couto at the Etihad Stadium, it seems like the right-back will at least have one familiar face to keep him company, as his Girona teammate Savio seems poised to join Manchester City this summer.
