Well, it was The Athletic who revealed that Manchester City like the Germany international, although the news outlet poured cold water on any chance of a January deal.
It is said that a move for Wirtz in January has been deemed off limits by Bayer Leverkusen, with no major moves of that ilk expected to happen at the Etihad Stadium this month.
Manchester City are said to have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action earlier this season.
Those in attendance were surely left impressed by what they saw – Wirtz has impressively scored eight goals while also providing 12 assists in 23 appearances this term.
