A report has disclosed how Omar Berrada helped Manchester City sign Claudio Echeverri.

A little over two weeks ago, River Plate director Enzo Francescoli confirmed the Argentine’s move to the Etihad Stadium, admitting that “he deserves” to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Echeverri, who has been reported to cost City a fee worth £12.5 million plus add-ons, as per journalist Ben Jacobs is set to be on loan at River for the entirety of the year, 2024.

Interestingly, the teenager has been compared to some of the best players in the history of the game already.

Daniel Brizuela, who scouted the youngster in the first place claimed that he is “a mix” of Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona, who are widely considered as Argentina’s two greatest-ever players.

Recently, Manchester City legend Carlos Tevez also claimed that he sees a “great future” for the highly-rated 18-year-old.

Now, it has been reported by The Athletic that Omar Berrada was involved in the negotiations with River Plate to ensure Claudio Echeverri becomes a Manchester City player.

The report claims that Berrada put in the graft to get such a difficult deal over the line, which is believed to have taken a while to complete.

In addition, it has been revealed that Omar Berrada did not give any indication whatsoever that after the deal for Claudio Echeverri was wrapped up, he would bid farewell to Manchester City.

Instead, it seems like his goal was simply signing the precocious midfielder and staying as professional as possible.

Omar Berrada seems like the consummate professional, which is perhaps why Rio Ferdinand was told by figures he knew at Manchester City that Manchester United had employed a gem in him as their CEO.
