Manchester City have some absolutely world-class players in their squad and it’s likely bitter rivals Manchester United would love one or two of them.
Over the years, Pep Guardiola – with the help of director of football Txiki Begiristain – has brought some incredible talents to the Etihad Stadium, and fans have been absolutely treated.
City have not only brought some amazing technical footballers to the club, they have also signed physical specimens.
As a result, City are now the dominant force in the Premier League and currently, the hopes of a second successive Treble and fourth straight Premier League title are still alive.
City being in this position is probably difficult for United fans to stomach.
If only they had some of City’s stars in their own team, and Robbie Savage has named the one he’d have over anyone else…
Robbie Savage picks Kevin De Bruyne as a player he’d sign as Manchester United sporting director

Savage appeared on BBC 5 Live’s 606 Football Phone In and Chris Sutton asked him who he’d sign for Manchester United if he was the sporting director.
A lot of the talk around United this season has been their lack of a goalscorer.
Rasmus Hojlund has struggled since his big-money move from Atalanta, so one might have thought Savage would have picked someone like Erling Haaland, who is arguably the finest goalscorer in the world right now.
But Savage overlooked Haaland and said: “Who would I go for for Manchester United? Well I would go for Kevin De Bruyne but I’m not going to get him am I?! You’ve got to aim high!”
De Bruyne was the talk of the town once again at the weekend, as he inspired City’s comeback win over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
The Belgian maestro grabbed a goal and made a last-gasp assist during his 20 minutes on the field, with City running out 2-1 winners. Pep Guardiola hailed his main man after the game, branding him ‘a legend’.
A player any side would love
It is no surprise to hear Savage picking De Bruyne as his dream signing as a hypothetical sporting director of Manchester United.
While the Red Devils do need a goalscorer, one would imagine Hojlund would fare far better if he had De Bruyne behind him supplying the ammunition. The young striker has missed a lot of chances this term, but there have also been games where he’s been starved of service.
Ultimately, De Bruyne is a player that any side in world football would love to have. There is no one better than him in his position and arguably now, he is one of the greatest midfielders to ever play the game.
De Bruyne is simply an output machine, but as Gary Neville said, he is ‘delicious’ to watch and at the end of the day, football is a spectacle that hard-working fans pay good money to watch.
