Rodri has played alongside a wide range of top players during his time at Manchester City.
Signed from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £62m back in the 2019 summer transfer window, the midfielder has gone on to make 260 appearances for City across all competitions.
Back in September, Rodri suffered a season-ending knee injury during City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
On a brighter note, Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d’Or last month after having a successful previous season with Pep Guardiola’s side and then helping Spain win the European Championship over the summer.
In the middle of his recovery, the midfielder has now taken the time to shed some light on who he feels is the best player he’s shared the dressing room with at the Manchester club.

Rodri names the best player he’s played with at City
When asked in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football to name the best player he’s shared the pitch with during his five years at City, Rodri gave this answer.
He said: “I think Kevin. Kevin [De Bruyne], David [Silva]. I would say David because he’s my friend also, but he’s unbelievable for me.
“Sometimes in Spain, he hasn’t the credit that he has in England. But I think Kevin will be, for me, let’s say top three best players in the history of the league.”
Frank Lampard hailed De Bruyne as one of the Premier League’s best
Rodri isn’t the only person to praise the 33-year-old, as Frank Lampard shared his verdict on De Bruyne back in February, hailing the Belgian for what sort of player he is and sharing where he should rank in Premier League history.
He said: “He’s so unique in terms of hitting his top levels so regularly.
“His understanding of the game, the goals he scores, his work ethic for the team, those have developed since I played with him obviously and we have all seen him become one of the greatest midfield players in the Premier League era, for sure.”
| Manchester City | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Trophies Won |
| Kevin De Bruyne | 392 | 103 | 170 | 19 |
| David Silva | 436 | 77 | 131 | 14 |
City paid £54m to sign De Bruyne back in the 2015 summer transfer window from Wolfsburg.
Having then gone on to play such a significant part in the club’s trophy haul in terms of the number of goals and assists he’s delivered, it’s easy to see why Rodri thinks so highly of De Bruyne.
With the Belgian missing a lot of the current season so far through injury and fitness issues, if he can stay fit from now on and help guide City to another title, this would surely increase De Bruyne’s case to be considered one of if not the best midfielder in Premier League history.
