Having gone head-to-head with several top managers at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola could now have to battle against Manchester United-linked boss Ruben Amorim.
At the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola has faced off against big-name tacticians such as Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Mikel Arteta to name a few.
On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Ruben Amorim has “said yes” to United’s proposal, as the club are prepared to pay his €10 million (£8.3 million) release clause; with the reputed journalist attaching his signature ‘here we go’ phrase to the update indicating that the move is all but done.
It was also revealed that Manchester City’s interest in Amorim was “pure speculation” as he nears an exit from Sporting CP.
Ruben Amorim discussed Manchester City by rubbishing his links to the club due to Hugo Viana’s move and stated that him and his colleague had “different paths” earlier this month.
It seemed like the Portuguese manager could well have had his sights set on managing Manchester United instead of City and replacing Erik ten Hag for a while.

Fabian Huerzeler suggests Ruben Amorim to contact Pep Guardiola about Man United job
Pep Guardiola discussed Ten Hag by sending him a classy parting message as his sacking as United boss was confirmed on Monday.
The Dutchman’s spell in the Premier League was one that was much-maligned as the Red Devils experienced their worst-ever finish in Premier League history (eighth place) under him last season and this campaign, they have not shown many signs of improvement.
Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Huerzeler suggested Ruben Amorim to consult Pep Guardiola about managing Manchester United as he felt more experienced managers were better-placed to give him advice.
The 31-year-old said via Brighton’s official YouTube channel: “39 and he’s eight years older than me. He’s already achieved great things in Portugal. I’ve seen some games of him, he plays incredible football.”
“I’m not in a position to give him advice, if needs advice he can probably ask Pep (Guardiola) or Jurgen Klopp. Let’s see what happens. It’s always great to face new coaches and new challenges.”
The former St. Pauli coach has just spent a few months in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is the league’s longest-serving manager and the division’s second-most successful one of all time behind Sir Alex Ferguson.
When will Guardiola and Amorim face off in the Manchester Derby?
It will be exciting to see how the Manchester derbies unfold this season.
With Erik ten Hag out of the picture, United pose a more unpredictable test for City.
Amorim will likely take some time to adapt to English football.
Here are the dates for when Manchester City and Manchester United face off this season.
| DATE | STADIUM |
| 15TH DECEMBER | ETIHAD STADIUM |
| 5TH APRIL | OLD TRAFFORD |
Regardless of how Ruben Amorim starts at United, his real test as a Premier League manager will emerge when his side kick off against Pep Guardiola’s City.
The Catalan tactician will also perhaps like to showcase that despite his experience in the game, he is streets ahead of young coaches like Amorim.
The whole world will be watching the pair’s teams lock horns with each other this season.
