Lately, Ruben Amorim has been strongly linked as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
On Thursday, it has been revealed that Amorim is viewed as a viable replacement for Guardiola by Manchester City if their legendary manager leaves the club in 2025 — alongside Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso as one of the two primary candidates.
Furthermore, the report stated that Hugo Viana, who is set to replace Txiki Begiristain as Manchester City’s could likely intend for the Sporting CP boss to manage City after Pep Guardiola leaves the club.
It was claimed on Thursday that Ruben Amorim would be keen on managing Manchester City.
Manchester City fans have delivered a positive verdict about Amorim as a potential replacement for Pep Guardiola as well.
Pep Guardiola is undecided about his future at Manchester City as per his recent comments.

Ruben Amorim admits Hugo Viana move does not mean he is Man City-bound
It was reported on Tuesday that it has been “tentatively suggested” that Guardiola could sign a one-year contract extension at Manchester City.
At Sporting, Ruben Amorim and Hugo Viana have proven to be a hugely successful partnership.
However, Amorim has revealed that just because Viana is set for a move to the Etihad Stadium — playing down the speculation that he could succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The 39-year-old told Cabine Sportiva: “They are different paths. We just have a professional relationship, which will not last forever.”
Ruben Amorim — whose contract expires in 2026 — praised Hugo Viana’s ambition, giving City fans a reason to be excited, adding: “Hugo Viana wants to win more than everyone at Man City.”
Amorim has also disclosed that when Manchester City face Sporting in the Champions League next month, Viana will not be allowed to enter the dressing room in the week leading up to the game due to a conflict of interest.
“Obviously, Viana, during City’s week, won’t be available to enter the dressing room. I’m going to leave him out, to avoid conflicts. Otherwise, everything will stay the same until the end of the season.”
Pep Guardiola has already shared Amorim verdict amid Man City links
Only time will tell whether Ruben Amorim’s claim about him and Hugo Viana taking “different paths” and their relationship not lasting “forever” will be proven to be the truth.
It seems like the Portuguese tactician is solely focused on Sporting and he has no interest in fuelling the speculation surrounding him replacing Pep Guardiola at City.
Guardiola was full of praise for Amorim in 2022, which could excite the Sky Blues supporters as he seems to be a huge admirer of the two-time Primeira Liga winner.
“They won the Portuguese league! Their manager [Ruben Amorim] is one of the best at the moment. His team is really good. But…Sporting Lisboa. Do you know what happened there? Five shots on target, five chances, five goals. 100%. ‘How good is the manager?’
“This season, we had these chances…1-1 in Leipzig, ‘How much of a disaster is Man City? Ah, Leipzig is bad. It’s not a good team’. How many top teams are out in the Champions League? Everyone has to understand that the opponents also play!”
It will be interesting to discover whether Pep Guardiola has any say over which manager will replace him at Manchester City.
But based on how highly he speaks of Ruben Amorim, if Guardiola is asked, it seems like he could throw his name in the hat.
For the time being, Amorim’s latest admission could lead to his links to City being potentially silenced.
