Manchester City was the club Samir Nasri spent the longest time at during his impressive career.

The midfielder joined the Manchester club from Premier League rivals Arsenal in 2011, a club where he had great success, and the French international continued that at the Etihad Stadium, where he would lift the Premier League on two occasions.

Nasri would experience a feud with Pep Guardiola in 2016, and not long after that, the France international would depart City on loan to Sevilla, before making a permanent move to Antalyaspor in 2017, having made 176 appearances for the Manchester club.

Nasri produced 27 goals and 39 assists in a sky blue shirt, which was helped by the quality of his teammates.

Speaking in an interview shortly after his arrival, the midfielder had already noticed that he had formed a great connection with one of his attacking teammates.

Samir Nasri loved the connection he had with Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero was a loved figure at Man City and in the Premier League, but it seems that people forget how good the former striker was.

Kevin De Bruyne picked Erling Haaland over Aguero in a recent interview, while Steven Gerrard believes Luis Suarez is better than the Man City legend.

Nasri was one man who understood just how special the Argentina star was, and speaking during an interview in 2012 via City Magazine, the Frenchman stated that the relationship he had with the striker was similar to that of the connection he had with Robin van Persie at Arsenal.

“For me, it’s really good to be able to play alongside players like David and Sergio. When you play alongside quality players and technically, you try and establish a good connection with them as quickly as possible,” Nasri said.

“With David, it is like the relationship I had with Cesc when we played together at Arsenal and with Sergio, it is the same sort of connection I had with Robin van Persie. It’s good for each player and especially for the team as a whole. It’s very easy to play alongside them.”

Both players will go down as Premier League legends, and Nasri knows just how lucky he was to be able to play with stars of this quality.

How Sergio Aguero compares to Robin van Persie

Aguero and Van Persie were similar in ways but ultimately different strikers. The Dutch star was a technically gifted player who had a lethal eye for goal, while the Argentine liked to find space in between defenders and used his dribbling ability and trickiness in the box to create opportunities for himself.

Many would pick Aguero over the former Man United star as the Man City legend has the numbers, records, trophies, and big moments over Van Persie.

Either way, both forwards were exceptional players and gave Premier League fans some incredible moments throughout their time in England.

Nasri was one of the lucky ones to have played with both, and the Frenchman will treasure that now that he is retired from football.
