‘Shocker’… Pundit says £51m Man City player was actually really poor in 1-1 draw against Chelsea

Robbie Mustoe felt Erling Haaland had a rare game to forget in a Manchester City shirt during his side’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Recently, Wayne Rooney lauded the £51 million (Sky Sports) man, referring to him as one of the two best players in the world.

However, it’s fair to say that the Norwegian international did not live up to those standards against Chelsea on Saturday.

Robbie Mustoe says Erling Haaland had a “shocker” after Manchester City drew to Chelsea

Rightly described as a “sensational goalscorer” by Gary Lineker, the 23-year-old missed chance after chance for City against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

While Haaland had the opportunity to redeem himself by converting a free header inside the box late into the second half, he managed to sky his attempt after an inch-perfect cross from De Bruyne.

After Manchester City dropped two significant points against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, Robbie Mustoe reflected on a disappointing outing for Erling Haaland.

“But the biggest surprise is Erling Haaland and those misses where we normally say, sometimes City don’t normally play well and he’s there to sweep the ball into the net or score a couple of headers. He didn’t today, it’s a bit of a shocker for him actually”, he told NBC Sports.

Erling Haaland must dust himself off and go again

It is undeniable that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland had a “shocker” against Chelsea, as Robbie Mustoe claimed.

But recently, Nathan Ake revealed that the Leeds-born hitman has an immensely strong mentality, in that he remains unfazed even after missing chances and that is what he believes “sets him apart.”

Whether Haaland was affected by his wasteful finishing or if it just not his day are questions that only he could answer.

But at the end of the day, the former Borussia Dortmund goalscorer must tap into his single-minded mindset, as Ake stated in order to help the Sky Blues regain their Premier League crown.

As things stand, Manchester City have one game in hand over Liverpool and Arsenal and sit four and two points adrift of both sides respectively.
