Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave his thoughts on Manchester City and their 115 financial charges.

In November, a report emerged claiming that a hearing in front of an independent panel involving City’s alleged financial breaches could take place in autumn this year.

Additionally, it is believed that a final verdict could come to the fore in the summer next year but the process is likely not to be a swift one.

On Tuesday, Manchester United’s official website released a statement claiming that Sir Jim Ratcliffe had acquired 25% of the club’s Class A and Class B shares.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has his say on the 115 charges Manchester City are facing

In January, journalist Jack Gaughan claimed that if the Sky Blues are found guilty, punishments could be severe — including league titles being stripped off the club and relegation.

Considering United’s age-old rivalry with City, one would expect that the British billionaire would be hoping for the Premier League to find the club guilty.

However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has a different mindset about the 115 financial charges Manchester City are facing.

“I wouldn’t wish that upon them. I don’t understand any of that. I just want to smash them on the football field”, he told The Athletic in an interview.

Considering a verdict is yet to be reached about the case, it would have been out of line for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to delve too deep into his views on the 115 financial charges Manchester City have been alleged with.

The seven-time Premier League winners would also be hoping to clear their name, as they would want to continue to compete with top sides like United on the pitch.

For years, Manchester City has been blue as City have reigned over European football while United have been a shadow of their former dominant selves during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

As Manchester United seem focused on returning to the top under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it will be interesting to see whether Manchester City continue to reign supreme over them.
