Manchester City are no strangers when it comes to being linked with transfer moves for a wide range of players.
For example, during the previous summer transfer window, in addition to landing deals to sign Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan, City were linked with moves for multiple other names across Europe and beyond.
Specifically, some of the names Pep Guardiola’s side were mentioned with over the summer included Eberechi Eze, Bruno Guimaraes and Dani Olmo, among others.
Since the 2024/25 season started and the summer transfer window closed, the Manchester club have won six and drawn three of their nine games across the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup.
Now though, another player who has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium has found himself being praised by a pundit and former Premier League star.

Danny Murphy hails Man City transfer target Jamal Musiala
While previewing Aston Villa’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, Danny Murphy had this to say in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel about which player the Birmingham club will have to be wary of.
He said: “Villa’s biggest problem tonight with Munich, don’t worry about [Harry] Kane – [Jamal] Musiala. He’s the one that turns games for them.
“He’s so elusive and dynamic, he goes past people like they’re not there. He’s a wonderful talent and if you haven’t seen much of him, watch him tonight.
“Honestly, just one of the best young players on the planet.”
Where would Musiala fit in at City?
Back in April, The Guardian reported that Musiala was a top target for City in the previous summer transfer window.
Even though the Blues didn’t sign him over the summer, Fabrizio Romano claimed last month that City are definitely interested in signing Musiala and could look to sign him next year if he doesn’t sign a new contract at Bayern before then.
The 21-year-old’s current contract at Bayern is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
Bearing in mind how City have a handful of midfield players in their squad who have hit or are over the age of 30, Musiala could inject a bit of youth into that area for the Blues if they do end up signing him next summer.
Now that Murphy has shared how highly he thinks of Musiala, there should be no doubts about how much of an exciting signing he would be for City if they make it happen in the future.
