Manchester City have been without some of their key players in recent weeks and in some cases throughout the entire season so far.

In addition to losing Oscar Bobb to a serious leg injury before the Premier League campaign kicked off, City saw Rodri suffer a season-ending injury in September.

However, Rodri’s aiming to return to action before the season ends, which would surely delight a lot of City supporters to see.

Other names the Blues have seen miss games here and there include Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Jeremy Doku and Nathan Ake.

Despite dealing with an injury crisis and a dismal run of form, Pep Guardiola’s side have been backed to use something that has been unique to them over recent years to get them back where they expect to be in terms of fighting for trophies.

Danny Murphy shares why Man City can bounce back from injury crisis

On the subject of how City can get their season back on track and make sure they remain in the title race over the coming months, Danny Murphy gave this explanation on talkSPORT.

He said: “I think the biggest boost for Man City would simply be [Ruben] Dias, [Kevin] De Bruyne, [John] Stones, [Jeremy] Doku, [Jack] Grealish and [Nathan] Ake getting back in the team.

“All players who played a huge part when they won the Treble and have won the league. They’re just missing too many senior players at the moment to be able to put their normal form together.

“Rodri is a big miss, but it’s not just Rodri. We’re talking about when you look at their best team from last season and the one before, so many of those players are missing.

“I’ve got no concerns for City to come back, whether Pep says he’s staying or going.

“What you’re dealing with is a group of players with a wonderful mentality, a desire and a habit of winning that you don’t erase overnight. It doesn’t go. You just need them on the pitch.”

Man City have experience of stepping up in key periods

Having won six Premier League titles over the past seven years, the Blues have plenty of experience when it comes to getting through vital periods of the season and come out victorious.

After last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, Kyle Walker demanded a response from his City teammates, saying this on the matter.

He said: “This is the time where I want to see the players and real characters come through.

“It’s all good for the last eight years when we’ve been winning and dominating games. But now it’s tough, this is the time where us as the senior members have to pull the players through who haven’t been here for a while and show them the foundations of this club.

“We’ve built those foundations over the last eight years and that will get us through this patch.

“It’s football and with the players and manager we have, with the club the fans, it will pass.

“We need to weather the storm and make sure after the international break we come back fit and ready to go for an important part of the season.

“There will be light at the end of the tunnel and I feel this isn’t going to win us the Premier League this period, and it’s not going to lose us the Premier League.”

With City having some crucial league matches facing them once the international break comes to an end, this would be an ideal period for the players to use their experience of delivering when it matters and getting themselves back on track, ideally with as fit a squad as possible.
