‘The enemy’… Sir Jim Ratcliffe now makes his feelings clear about Manchester City

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made his feelings clear about Manchester City.

The minority shareholder of Manchester United previously praised how well City are run as a football club but described them as “the enemy.” The 71-year-old had also openly stated that he aimed to knock the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool “off their perch”; a callback to Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous quote aimed at the Reds.

The British billionaire also expressed his desire “to smash” the Sky Blues on the pitch instead of hoping the club are found guilty of their alleged financial breaches by the Premier League.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe openly admits he “hates” Manchester City

Ratcliffe is a lifelong Manchester United supporter and up until now, he has seemed to be inclined that way by embracing the rivalries between his beloved club and City.

When quizzed about which team out of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal he would like to see win the Premier League title, Sir Jim Ratcliffe replied, “I hate them all!”

“You’ve got Liverpool and Arsenal and Man City, haven’t you?”

“No, I don’t know, they’re all the enemy, I couldn’t possibly choose one”, he said on the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast.

Ratcliffe added, “I think it’ll be good for [Mikel] Arteta actually, I think. It would be good for him because he’s done really well there and Arsenal have been patient with him, which is nice as well.”

Manchester City should ignore such comments and do their talking on the pitch

Instead of responding to the comments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester City should simply do their talking on the pitch, in our view.

It would be easy for City to perhaps deem Ratcliffe’s admission as inappropriate and aim digs at United.

But instead of getting embroiled in a potential public spat, the treble-winners should focus on making more history this season and for years to come.

Ultimately, one would expect Sir Jim Ratcliffe to make such comments, considering he supports Manchester United but from a Sky Blues perspective, it should not concern them whatsoever as their focus should be on bigger and better things.

When both teams met recently, Manchester City cruised past Erik ten Hag’s side with a 3-1 win, which is the best way to silence their detractors.
