Tottenham are now leading the race to sign Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp – a player Manchester City are also keen to sign.
That is according to The Sun.
So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Arthur Vermeeren? Let’s take a look…
Arthur Vermeeren update
Well – according to Graeme Bailey – Manchester City recently made contact with Royal Antwerp to open talks over a deal for the Belgian.
Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano then claimed that Vermeeren is definitely leaving the Jupiler Pro League outfit in 2024.
Now – however – Tottenham find themselves in pole position to sign the £25m midfield maestro ahead of Manchester City, according to The Sun.

It is said that Spurs are hoping to wrap up a similar agreement to the one which saw Destiny Udogie arrive in north London, where Vermeeren would be signed and then loaned back to Royal Antwerp.
The Belgium international has put his name up in lights after playing a crucial role in Royal Antwerp’s first league title win in 66 years last term.
Vermeeren – who is just 18 – also recently won the Man of the Match award after scoring in a UEFA Champions League win over Barcelona.
Manchester City cannot miss out on Arthur Vermeeren
In our view, Txiki Begiristain cannot afford to let Vermeeren slip away.
Even if Pep Guardiola feels he cannot accommodate the teenager at the Etihad Stadium right now, there is no reason why a deal cannot take place, before he is loaned back to Royal Antwerp or elsewhere.

Vermeeren is a truly special talent – one who has already captained Royal Antwerp – and he seems destined for the very top.
If Manchester City fail to sign him now, we strongly believe the Citizens will live to regret it – very few teenagers even play in the UEFA Champions League, let alone score and captain a side in the competition.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Tottenham currently front the queue.
