Manchester City secured another Premier League win on Saturday by beating Ipswich Town 4-1.
After seeing off Chelsea with a 2-0 scoreline at Stamford Bridge in their first game of the 2024/25 season, Pep Guardiola’s side grabbed all three points at the Etihad Stadium with their win over Kieran McKenna’s newly promoted side.
This latest victory has put the champions back to the top of the Premier League table with the same number of points as Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal and Liverpool but with a superior goal difference.
Following this latest win for the Blues, one player from the starting XI found himself on the end of some significant praise for his efforts against the Tractors.
Troy Deeney hails Erling Haaland after latest Man City performance
Having picked Erling Haaland in his latest Team of the Week for BBC Sport, Troy Deeney had this to say about the City start after seeing him score his tenth hat-trick for the club against Ipswich.
He said: “He plays again and scores three again. I think it is something like every nine-and-a-half games he gets a hat-trick. Just a monster of a man. He enjoys finishing and enjoys scoring goals.”
Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world
Having scored his first goal of the new campaign against Chelsea, Haaland then followed that up by adding another match ball to his collection and helping his side win another match.
With 101 games under his belt as a City player, the Norwegian, who joined the Manchester club back in 2022 for £51m, has scored 94 goals in total and won numerous trophies along the way.
In fact, after including the 24-year-old in his Team of the Week, Alan Shearer suggested that Haaland could find himself and City winning more trophies this season.
Now that Deeney has shared his admiration for how the centre-forward is able to find the back of the net on such a consistent basis, there’s no denying that Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world right now.
