It has been reported that Manchester City are set to submit a brand-new bid to sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Sunday that Pep Guardiola is personally keen on his arrival after the injury suffered by Kevin De Bruyne against Burnley.

Now, Manchester City intend to bid once again to ensure they seal the deal for Lucas Paqueta once and for all.

Fabrizio Romano: Manchester City set to bid again for Lucas Paqueta transfer

Branded as ‘mind-boggling’ by Declan Rice (via Evening Standard), David Moyes admitted that it is difficult telling the 25-year-old not to join a club of the stature of the treble-winners.

It was also reported last Wednesday that Pep Guardiola has ‘always been a fan’ of the Brazilian international, who he was interested in signing to replace Bernardo Silva in 2022.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester City are readying a new bid to sign West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta after their initial £70 million offer was turned down.

It is believed that personal terms have been agreed with the Europa Conference League winner.

Lucas Paqueta could unlock his full potential at the Etihad Stadium

At the London Stadium, the former Lyon attacker has had a mixed time of things, as he struggled to fit into David Moyes’ defensive system before eventually getting into the swings of things during the backend of last season.

However, if Lucas Paqueta were to become a Manchester City player, Pep Guardiola’s system and use of him would take his game to the next level.

Playing in a team that prioritises dominating games and scoring goals, Paqueta would be utilised as an advanced midfielder, for starters instead of playing in the deep role he has at West Ham.

Lucas Paqueta would likely feel right at home in his natural position, as well as playing as a right-winger from time to time, with his excellence in the final third used to get the best out of him.
