What Jack Grealish has already said about one ‘brilliant’ Premier League manager could hint at his next move

It looks like Jack Grealish and Manchester City are set to part ways in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano revealed Grealish is “almost guaranteed” to leave Manchester City as he was left out of Pep Guardiola’s matchday squad against Fulham in the Sky Blues’ last Premier League game.

It seems like Pep Guardiola has run out of patience with the Englishman, who has failed to rediscover the high standards he set when City won the treble in 2023.

Since then, persistent injury problems, a failure to nail his place down in Guardiola’s side and inconsistent performances have held Jack Grealish back for two seasons now.

Interestingly, Grealish loves life at Manchester City despite not starting regularly and is settled in the North East.

However, Tottenham are interested in signing Grealish, as are other Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa and Newcastle United, as well as Serie A giants AC Milan.

Furthermore, Manchester City are prepared to sell Grealish and will not accept the possibility of him going on loan like Kalvin Phillips has to West Ham United and Ipswich Town.

But perhaps the 29-year-old could fancy a move to Tottenham, based on his praise for Ange Postecoglou in October 2023: “They’ve been brilliant, to start the season the way that they have and the football that they are playing, I think they’ve been brilliant and yeah, they’re coming into this international break top of the table.”

Grealish continued to laud Tottenham boss Postecoglou, saying: “I obviously knew that he was a good manager from his Celtic days but to come and do it in the Premier League is probably a little tougher but yeah, he’s been brilliant for them.”

Grealish admitted he almost joined Tottenham

Manchester City are ready to revamp their squad in the summer and in order to do so, they will have to take unpopular decisions.

One of them has already involved Kevin De Bruyne, who could join Napoli in the summer after being informed that by City’s hierarchy that they were ready to move on from him.

Grealish candidly told The Telegraph that he was disappointed about his failed move from Aston Villa to Tottenham in 2018 but in the summer, he could be granted his wish to play for Spurs.

The three-time Premier League winner said: “Of course, there’s going to be disappointment there. They’ve beaten Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, they’re playing Barcelona in the Champions League next week.”

“I felt that if I’d gone there I could have maybe been in the England squad by the end of the year.”

Grealish added at the time: “At the start of the season, my head was swivelled, it was all over the place. Even after the transfer window closed, until the end of August, I wasn’t right.”
