Manchester City are keen to sign Bayern Munich No.6 Joshua Kimmich – and the club’s thoughts about a deal have now been shared.

It was Sam Lee – Manchester City correspondent for The Athletic – who revealed the information.

So, what do Manchester City currently know about a potential deal involving Joshua Kimmich? Let’s take a look…

What Manchester City know about Kimmich deal

Well – according to The Athletic – Manchester City know just how difficult it will be to sign the Germany international from Bayern Munich this summer as slight pessimism creeps into the chances of a deal.

Nevertheless, Lee adds that Txiki Begiristain is currently exploring ways to complete the signing as Manchester City attempt to replace Kalvin Phillips.

Kimmich will only have 12 months remaining on his contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the season, with the Daily Star claiming that the German’s value will drop to around £25m by that stage.

The Daily Star also state that the 28-year-old is keen to reunite with Guardiola, having worked alongside the Spaniard at Bayern Munich.

Kimmich has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich so far this season, scoring one goal while also providing six assists.

What Kimmich has said about working with Guardiola again

Kimmich actually admitted back in 2019 that he would love to work with Guardiola again, amid rumours of the 53-year-old coming back to the Allianz Arena to replace Niko Kovac.

The man from Rottweil was quoted by Sky Sports as saying: “I know (Guardiola) and have a lot to thank him for. He took me from the second division and let me play in the Bundesliga.

“We won the double together and after that season I became a player for Germany. So, of course, I won’t be against him coming back.”

Kimmich made 36 appearances under Guardiola, providing two assists as Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.

Hopefully, the German playmaker and the Spaniard reunite at Manchester City this summer.
