Rayan Cherki calls his Man City teammates the ‘best players’ in the world

Just a few days after signing for City, Rayan Cherki has flown to the United States ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Cherki wanted to play at the Club World Cup and he could make his first appearance for the Sky Blues on Wednesday against Wydad AC.

Ahead of his first training session, the French international gave a short speech in front of his teammates, Pep Guardiola and the coaches, as shared by Manchester City’s official in-house media.

Cherki said: “Thank you for it all. I’m ready to play with you because you are the best players and thank you [to Guardiola].”

Rayan Cherki revealed what Pep Guardiola privately told him

It seems like the youngster is trying to settle into the group as quickly as possible.

Cherki revealed he spoke to Pep Guardiola, who assured him that he will have the freedom to do as he pleases with the ball at his feet.

“I spoke with Pep about my position on the pitch and we spoke about what I enjoy when I’m on the pitch. It’s very good for me. He told me he loves a number 10, but now I play all the positions in the pitch, it’s not complicated because I just want to play.”

Cherki concluded: “Pep told me, ‘when you have the ball, you are free’ which is very good for me because it’s my first quality to help the team.”
