What Tino Livramento is now ‘keen’ to do when Newcastle offer him new contract amid Man City interest

Manchester City seem to have held a longstanding interest in securing Tino Livramento’s services.

However, the bad news for Pep Guardiola’s men is that Manchester City News exclusively revealed that Newcastle United are unwilling to sell Livramento despite the Sky Blues’ interest.

With Kyle Walker signing for Burnley, the Magpies’ unwillingness to sell the Englishman is a worry as Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis are their go-to right-backs currently, despite both players being midfielders.

Manchester City rate Livramento highly and view him as the ideal successor to Walker.

Tino Livramento wants to improve his terms when Newcastle offer him new contract

The Times have reported that Newcastle are set to offer Tino Livramento a potential six-year contract extension.

Furthermore, Newcastle will ensure that the 22-year-old becomes one of their highest earners.

Manchester City would offer £65 million to sign Livramento but during a summer where Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Eddie Howe’s side would like to tie one of their other big names to a long-term contract.

The player himself has yet to decide his long-term future but remains “keen” to improve his terms, which could indicate that he fancies putting pen to paper.

How Man City boss Pep Guardiola feels about Matheus Nunes at right-back

Ultimately, all Manchester City can do is move on as it seems like Newcastle could be set to keep Livramento this summer.

Pep Guardiola admitted Nunes has impressed him and he may have no choice but to stick with him as his starting right-back for the foreseeable future.

With less than a month left for the new season to start, City will have to act quickly if they remain insistent on signing a replacement for Walker.

But as things stand, Nunes could simply be their best bet.
