Rayan Cherki is edging closer to leaving Lyon and becoming one of Manchester City’s marquee signings this summer.
Manchester City have now agreed to sign Cherki, who could be their successor to Kevin De Bruyne.
During the 2024/2025 season, the Frenchman perhaps caught City’s eye as he amassed an impressive tally of 32 goal involvements (12 goals and 20 assists) and had his breakthrough campaign.
Manchester City rate Cherki highly and Pep Guardiola would be excited about managing the 21-year-old.

David Ornstein says Rayan Cherki is set for Man City medical on Tuesday
Alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders, the imminent addition of Rayan Cherki is one that indicates that City have a burning desire to return to the top of the English and European footballing tree.
With Manchester City set to sign the Lyon technician for just €40 million (£33.7 million), according to journalist David Ornstein, he could prove to be a bargain as well.
Ornstein has also revealed that Cherki is expected to undergo his medical before completing his move to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Cherki was keen to join Manchester City by Tuesday and if the Sky Blues complete the move in time, he could partake in their FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

As the youngster has been impressing for France on international duty, City fans worldwide will be hoping to watch him don sky blue very soon.
Alexandre Lacazette lauded Cherki’s talent as well as the season that he has just had and the player himself would be rubbing his hands at making a strong first impression in a Manchester City shirt.
The good news for the Sky Blues supporters is that if the transfer is completed in time, the French international could make his debut against Wydad FC on June 18th.
Whether Pep Guardiola decides to start Cherki from the get-go or bring him off the bench remains to be seen, provided the move is finalised before Tuesday’s deadline for clubs set to participate in the Club World Cup.
