Manchester City are set to make a small kit change in Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Huddersfield.

Pep Guardiola welcomes Darren Moore to the Etihad Stadium as the Citizens aim to defend the FA Cup.

So, what kit change are Manchester City expected to make against Huddersfield? Let’s take a look…

Why Manchester City are set for small FA Cup kit change

Well, you may have noticed in other FA Cup clashes so far this season that each side partaking in the competition wear a red sleeve patch, with “Emirates FA Cup” written under a picture of the famous trophy.

You can see an example of that below from Thursday’s 0-0 draw between Crystal Palace and Everton.

However – according to the Daily Star – Manchester City will not be wearing this sleeve patch against Huddersfield, or any other FA Cup match this season should the Citizens progress.

That is because Etihad are Manchester City’s primary sponsors.

Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways are rivals in the aviation industry, so Manchester City have no intention of promoting the FA Cup’s sponsor – as we have also seen in recent editions of the competition.

The Daily Star add that the Citizens also included the word “choose” before the word Etihad for the 2019 FA Cup final against Watford, which ended in a 6-0 win for Guardiola, to further emphasise the rivalry against Emirates.

New feature will adorn Manchester City kit

Putting the Etihad vs Emirates rivalry aside for a moment, there will be a new addition to Manchester City’s shirt for the 2023/24 FA Cup campaign.

After lifting the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, Manchester City have been allowed to wear the iconic FIFA Champions Badge on their shirts for the rest of the season.

Therefore, that eye catching gold emblem will be on display for the first time ever in FA Cup action for Manchester City this Sunday against Huddersfield – although both sides have missed out on an £85,000 payment from the Football Association.
