Why has Manchester City vs Brentford been postponed? Fans of both Premier League clubs have been asking on Google.
The Citizens were supposed to welcome the Bees to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 23rd December in what would have been Manchester City’s final home game before Christmas.
So, why has Manchester City vs Brentford been postponed? Let’s take a look…
Why Manchester City vs Brentford has been postponed
Well, Manchester City’s involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup is the reason behind this postponement.
The treble winners have earned a spot in the prestigious competition for the first time in club history after winning the UEFA Champions League last season.
Manchester City begin the FIFA Club World Cup at the semi-final stage on Tuesday 19th December.
If Pep Guardiola sees his side progress into the final – as many expect them to – then that clash in Saudi Arabia will take place on Friday 22nd December, one day before the encounter against Brentford was supposed to commence.
Therefore, it has been postponed – with a new date yet to be announced.

The BBC suggested that this decision was made simpler by the fact Manchester City and Brentford were both knocked out of the Carabao Cup earlier this season – the space consequently freed up on each club’s respective calendars makes a rearranged fixture easier to sort out.
