Carlo Ancelotti has now provided an update on Real Madrid No.8 Toni Kroos – amid interest from Manchester City.
The Italian was quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Toni Kroos? Let’s take a look…
Pep Guardiola could miss out on Real Madrid No.8
Well, it was Defensa Central in Spain who claimed that Pep Guardiola wants to sign the Germany international when his contract expires in June.
The Spanish news outlet even believe that Manchester City could offer Kroos a deal worth £250,000-a-week.
Now – however – Ancelotti has admitted that the German might actually retire.
Kroos – who Zinedine Zidane adores – turns 34 in January.
As quoted by Romano, Ancelotti said: “Kroos will decide by himself (if he retires this season). He knows we love him. He feels very good. His level is always the same. He plays well with Valverde, with Camavinga, with Tchouameni.”
It would be quite a surprise if the Greifswald-born maestro chose to retire in the summer of 2024.

Kroos is still going strong at the age of 33, making 18 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid so far this season, scoring one goal while also providing four assists.
Most of those have been starts, while the German has completed 90 minutes on seven occasions this term, so fitness does not appear to be an issue.
Toni Kroos would be a shrewd signing for Manchester City if Kalvin Phillips departs
In our view, it would make sense to sign Kroos on a free transfer if Kalvin Phillips departs.
Both the England international and the £20m playmaker operate in a No.6 role at the base of midfield, where their long range passing skills help to open up opponents.

Phillips could be leaving the Etihad Stadium in January due to a lack of playing time, so if that happens, a move for the Real Madrid No.8 on a short-term contract, running for a year or two, would make a lot of sense.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Kroos prepares to make a decision on his future.
