Leroy Sane’s value has almost doubled since he left Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

That is according to SPORT, which has claimed interest in the Bayern Munich winger from Barcelona.

So, what is being reported about former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to SPORT, Barcelona are interested in signing Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

However, Barcelona are facing two potential problems in getting a deal done for the former Manchester City winger.

Firstly, Bayern do not want to sell Sane and have offered him a new deal. Secondly, the Bundesliga giants value the Germany international at €100 million (£87 million).

That is almost double what Bayern paid the Citizens for Sane back in the summer of 2020. As reported by ESPN at the time, City received an initial transfer fee of £44.2 million for the 27-year-old winger.

Manchester City could benefit from Leroy Sane transfer

SPORT does point out that Barcelona cannot afford to pay €100 million (£87 million) for Leroy Sane, but there is interest in the winger from Manchester City’s Premier League rivals Liverpool.

The Mirror reported in mid-October that Liverpool have made Sane their number one target to replace Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian star leave for Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2024.

While I believe that Sane would make Liverpool stronger and more potent in attack, City could actually benefit financially if the winger left Bayern in the summer of 2024.

That is because, according to a report in The Manchester Evening News in June 2020, as part of their agreement to sell Sane, City “included a 10 per cent sell on clause into the deal” with Bayern.

So, if Liverpool ended up paying £87 million for Sane, then City would pocket £8.7 million.

That would be a decent chunk of money for the defending Premier League and European champions.
