Manchester City know Alphonso Davies will join Real Madrid despite showing interest in the Canada international.
That is according to Graeme Bailey.
So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Alphonso Davies? Let’s take a look…
Manchester City know Alphonso Davies will join Real Madrid
Well, the Citizens are on the hunt for a new left-back due to a lack of natural options in that department.
Josko Gvardiol – who is traditionally a central defender – has been playing on the left so far this season, appearing to struggle at times, although a move for Davies has now seemingly been ruled out by Txiki Begiristain as Real Madrid close in, according to Bailey.
The HITC Football journalist said: “Davies is one who is on their radar, but I believe they realise he’s heading to Real Madrid. That is my understanding. They have been working on this for 18 months. It is firmly in their plans that he’ll go there.
“I think they (Manchester City) will look at signing another left-back this summer.”

The Bayern Munich No.19 has been one of Europe’s outstanding players in his position across recent years, memorably playing a crucial role as the German giants won the UEFA Champions League in 2020 with four assists in eight appearances.
Left-back alternatives for Manchester City
Davies is not the only left-back who Manchester City have been linked with.
A story from 90min claims that Begiristain is considering a move for Inter Milan No.32 Federico Dimarco – a player who actually praised Ederson after the Italian side tasted defeat in the UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul.

According to SPORT in Spain, there was strong interest in Barcelona No.3 Alejandro Balde as well, although Manchester City have since gone cold on the Spain international.
Given Guardiola and Begiristain’s connections to Xavi and Barcelona – however – a move still cannot be ruled out, in our view at least.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester City look to move on from interest in Davies.
