£35m Man City star has now agreed to leave the club this summer, ‘an agreement was reached’

With less than a month left for the 2025/2026 season to start, Manchester City will be working diligently behind the scenes to offload players to trim their squad.

Pep Guardiola would like a smaller squad and with the six-time Premier League winner being the legendary manager he is, it would be in City’s best interests to adhere to his demands.

With Liverpool looking to sign Alexander Isak this summer, the Sky Blues may be prompted to add more fresh faces into their roster to be able to push the Reds for the Premier League title.

However, with Manchester City taking 27 players to the FIFA Club World Cup excluding Kyle Walker before his move to Burnley, Mateo Kovacic, Jack Grealish and James McAtee, who could leave this summer, it would be best for them to focus on sales for the time being.

Ederson agrees to reduce salary demands to join Galatasaray

Another City player who has strongly been linked with an exit is Ederson Moraes, who has been one of the most transformative signings during the Pep Guardiola era.

Ederson’s salary demands were an issue for Galatasaray, with the goalkeeper demanding £12.9 million while the Turkish giants were willing to pay him a figure in the region of £6.9 million to £10.9 million.

However, Galatasaray were confident about signing Ederson, who has now accepted a salary of £8.6 million as he prepares to leave Manchester City, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncouglou on the Sports Digitale YouTube channel: “An agreement was reached with Ederson on every issue. A salary of less than €10 million (£8.6 million) was agreed upon.”

Furthermore, Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk, who discussed Ilkay Gundogan by admitting he is likely to stay at Manchester City held talks with the Brazilian to explain his plan to him.

“Galatasaray then called Manchester City and said, ‘We will never exceed €10 million.’ If you’re okay, we’re okay.’ Okan Buruk met with Ederson and explained his plan.”

Manchester City could sign James Trafford soon and the Burnley number one will have big shoes to fill as the 31-year-old’s potential successor.

In conversation with Sky Germany, Okan Buruk also confirmed that Galatasaray were eyeing Ederson, who Manchester City signed for £35 million as he could indeed be heading to Turkey sooner rather than later.

“We have a very long list of goalkeepers. With [Marc-Andre] Ter Stegen and Ederson, the contractual situation with their clubs obviously plays a role.”

“All of this must be clarified first before we can discuss the next steps.”

With Manchester City News exclusively confirming that Stefan Ortega’s future is uncertain as well.

If Ederson and Ortega are both prepared to leave the Etihad Stadium, they must look at other goalkeeping targets aside from Trafford.
