Erling Haaland is the benchmark for most strikers in the world of football.
The Norwegian has moved to superstar status ever since he completed his move to Man City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, which is mainly down to the goals the 25-year-old has produced, with the forward scoring 124 goals and assisting a further 21 across 146 matches.
Real Madrid still have an eye on Haaland, but the Man City star is not expected to leave the Premier League giants anytime soon, having carefully planned his path to Manchester.
Manchester United are currently pushing to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, and the Slovenian star has been advised to turn down a move to Old Trafford and follow a similar path to Haaland.

Benjamin Sesko to follow Erling Haaland’s path
Arsenal were interested in signing Sesko this summer, and a move to the Gunners would have made a lot of sense, as it is a clear step up for the 22-year-old.
That move has now disappeared after the North London club signed Vitor Gyokeres, with Man United and Newcastle currently the two main contenders to sign Sesko as part of a £65m deal from Leipzig, reports The Athletic.
Speaking on ESPN, Steve Nicol has advised the Slovenia international to be patient and avoid United, as a better project will come further down the line, where the 22-year-old will be able to follow the path of Haaland and join a club competing for the league title in their country.
“If Sesko goes. I mean, if I’m Sesko, I’d be worried that I’m going to stall at Manchester United. You know, you try and look at the path that Haaland’s had,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.
“You know, he’s done it the right way. He’s built, he’s built, he’s built. And then he’s joining a team in Manchester City.
“They’re at the top of the tree. No wonder the guy continues to score goals and continues to get better. Is Sesko going to do that at Manchester United? I’m not so sure.”
Sesko is a big admirer of Haaland, and the Leipzig star will certainly have looked at how his career has developed.
Being patient might be the best option for the 22-year-old at present, as it won’t be long before the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich will be looking for a new number nine.

Big expectations for Erling Haaland for the upcoming season
Last season was Haaland’s worst since joining Man City in 2022, as the Norwegian struggled with injuries and form.
If Pep Guardiola’s side are to return to competing for the Premier League over the next 12 months, the legendary coach will need his striker to lead the way, and there will be big expectations on the shoulders of the 25-year-old from his manager, the fans, and pundits.
Jan Aage Fjortoft expects Haaland to outscore Gyokeres this season, while many others will be predicting the Man City forward to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot for the 25/26 campaign.
Many clubs have changed strikers this summer, but if Haaland can get back to what he does best over the coming months, City will certainly be in contention for the title.
