Strikers have been a big talking point during the 2025 summer transfer window.
Most of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ entered the market with the hope of adding to this area of their squad as Chelsea signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Liverpool acquired Hugo Ekitike and remain interested in Alexander Isak, Arsenal purchased Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, while Man United continue to pursue Benjamin Sesko.
Man City do not have this issue as Pep Guardiola has arguably the best striker in the world among his ranks in Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian has been a superstar at the Etihad Stadium ever since he arrived in 2022, but Jonathan Chalkias, the agent of Gyokeres, has a slightly different view of the 25-year-old.

Erling Haaland has had it easier than Viktor Gyokeres
Haaland’s career has been carefully managed by his family and team, which has seen him end up at Man City, where the Norwegian has won nearly every major trophy on offer.
The striker has earned each move with his performances; however, Gyokeres’ agent has stated that it has been easier for the Man City star to score goals than his client, as the 25-year-old has been at a top club in every country he has played in.
“If you look at Viktor’s case, he’s been in the bottom teams and struggled all the time. You look at someone like Erling Haaland, for example. Starts at Molde, top club. Salzburg, top club. Dortmund, top club. Man City, top club,” Chalkias told WTV.
“It’s quite nice as a striker to be in a winning team all the time.
“That was the idea behind the whole move [to Arsenal]. For Viktor to get this service, to be in a playmaking team. Also, to develop his touch and his game in a more technical league than the Championship is.”
Gyokeres earned his £64m move to Arsenal this summer after some incredible performances with Sporting CP last season, but that is exactly what Haaland has done before transferring to each of his clubs, and he certainly has not been handed anything in his career.
Chalkias may not be suggesting this, but it is simply down to Gyokeres’ performances that he has not been scoring more goals than the Man City star throughout his career.
How Erling Haaland compares to Viktor Gyokeres
Jan Aage Fjortoft has predicted Haaland to outscore Gyokeres this season, as many pundits and fans expect the Man City star to return to his very best after a tough campaign last time around.
The Swedish star is similar to the 25-year-old in some ways, as he is a lethal goalscorer and uses his physicality to get the better of opposing defenders.
| Player | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Erling Haaland (three seasons at Man City) | 146 | 124 | 21 |
| Viktor Gyokeres (two seasons at Sporting) | 102 | 97 | 28 |
Gyokeres will be compared to Haaland throughout the 25/26 season, and that is a hard level to consistently match, as the Norwegian is simply a better player than the 27-year-old Arsenal star.
It will be very interesting to see how the Gunners’ new boy steps up, and if he does outperform Haaland, that would be an incredible statement to make during his first season in the Premier League.
