After Phil Foden, Man City are now looking at giving £50m player a new contract too

Manchester City are looking to offer new contracts to several stars over the coming months.

The summer was a busy one for Hugo Viana, as the Portuguese director was not only tasked with bringing seven new faces into Pep Guardiola’s squad, but he also had to find new clubs for unwanted stars and secure loan deals for the younger players at the Manchester club.

New contract talks were placed on the back burner, but Man City did agree new terms with Ruben Dias, who will now remain at the Etihad Stadium until 2029.

Now that the latest transfer window has passed, Man City are currently working on several new deals, which include a new contract for a player who has just a few months left at the Manchester club.

Man City in contract talks with John Stones

One of the main priorities at Man City at present is to offer Phil Foden a new contract as the midfielder’s current deal expires in 2027, and the 25-year-old has looked back to his best this season.

FootballTransfers have also reported this to be the case, stating that the England international will also receive a pay rise despite him already being one of the top earners at the Premier League giants.

In addition to Foden, Man City are also in talks with John Stones over a new deal as the defender’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Stones has made it clear that he wants to stay at Man City; however, due to his age and injury problems, the Manchester club are unwilling to commit to anything more than a one-year extension.

The 31-year-old has been a big hit since moving to the Etihad Stadium as part of a £50m deal in 2016, and with the centre-back looking sharp so far this season, it may be the smart move to keep the Englishman for another year.

New deals for Rodri and Josko Gvardiol are also being worked on

Man City have already started talks with Rodri over a new contract as the Premier League giants are very keen to keep the midfielder amid interest from Real Madrid over the summer.

Reports out of Spain have stated that Rodri is in no rush to sign a new Man City deal as he wants to take some time to assess his future, but City will be confident of tying the midfielder down to new terms.

Josko Gvardiol is another player Man City want to hand a new deal to, as the Croatian has emerged as one of the key members of Guardiola’s dressing room.

The report states that the situation with the centre-back is less urgent as he only joined the club in 2023 and currently has a contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2028.
