Atletico Madrid ‘reach total agreement’ with Man City for Alvarez

It was widely reported on Tuesday morning that Atletico Madrid have had a bid of £82m accepted by City for Alvarez.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein posted on X: “Atletico Madrid reach total agreement with Manchester City to sign Julian Alvarez. Deal worth up to €95m including add-ons- roughly ~£82m. Club record sale for #MCFC.”

All that’s left is for the Argentine to come to terms with Atletico and the deal will be done, with it looking likely to be concluded this week.

Alvarez’s impending exit will give Pep Guardiola a big decision to make on how he looks to replace Alvarez, either with new signings or from the club’s academy.

The manager has said previously that new arrivals could ‘maybe’ come in if a member of his first-team squad departs.

City youngster heading for permanent exit

It looks like Alvarez won’t be the only surprising departure from the Etihad Stadium this week.

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday that City have reached an agreement to sell one of their exciting youngsters, despite him impressing in pre-season and in rare competitive first-team appearances.
