Former Premier League goalkeeper thinks Man City currently have a player who is bringing a massive aura to the club.
The start of the 2025/26 campaign has been mixed for Pep Guardiola’s team, but one positive is that several stars are performing at their best.
Erling Haaland has stepped up for Man City with six goals across their opening five Premier League matches, while Jeremy Doku is playing some of the best football he has produced since arriving at the Manchester club in 2023.
Both have made tremendous starts to the campaign; however, Ben Foster thinks there is another member of Guardiola’s squad who is bringing massive “aura” to the club.

Ben Foster thinks Gianluigi Donnarumma has a big aura
Manchester City completed the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma during the summer after pouncing on the opportunity presented to them by PSG.
After some initial concern about the Italian’s style of play, the goalkeeper has stepped up massively for City in recent weeks, and Foster loves the aura the 26-year-old has brought with him to Manchester.
“His aura as well. His aura is phenomenal,” the former Premier League goalkeeper stated about Donnarumma on No Tippy Tappy Football.
Donnarumma was crowned the best goalkeeper in the world this week, and at £26m, the Italian has proven to be a bargain, leading to pundits questioning why other clubs were not in for the former PSG star.
Ian Wright cannot believe Chelsea did not move for Donnarumma, while Foster thinks the new City star would have made a huge difference at Man United.

Man United should have made a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma
Man United were the only club that really challenged Man City for Donnarumma this summer, but the Red Devils’ attempt was a weak one, as it was clear they had their heart set on Senne Lammens.
Foster can’t believe the Manchester club never made a move for Donnarumma or Emi Martinez, with the former goalkeeper stating that signing either goalkeeper would have made a big difference at Old Trafford.
| Player | Games | Goals Conceded | Clean Sheet | Minutes |
| Gianluigi Donnarumma | 47 | 43 | 17 | 4192 |
| Senne Lammens | 44 | 56 | 10 | 3960 |
“Man United just should have signed Emi Martinez. They should have signed Donnarumma when they had a chance,” Foster said. “But if you can’t get Donnarumma, then go and get Emi Martinez. I think you need somebody with aura, massive aura. And Donnarumma’s got it.”
The rest of the current season will reveal which Manchester club made the right decision when it comes to their goalkeeper position, and many will be backing Donnarumma to come out on top.
