Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Claudio Echeverri.
Echeverri will join Manchester City’s first-team and hope to play as much senior football as he can this season.
It is expected that Pep Guardiola will ease Echeverri in rather than instantly making him a regular starter and putting the burden on the 19-year-old to play regular minutes.
But Claudio Echeverri and Manchester City will be delighted that the union between both parties is finally set to begin.
The youngster has made waves playing for River Plate and the Argentine U-20 team.
But the highly-rated attacking midfielder is now set to play at the highest level for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Claudio Echeverri says Sergio Aguero told him Man City is a “great club”
Echeverri joins other Argentine players such as Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, Carlos Tevez, Nicolas Otamendi, Julian Alvarez and Martin Demichelis amongst others to play for Manchester City.
But a move from Argentina to Manchester must have left the youngster with plenty of questions.
Thankfully for Echeverri, Sergio Aguero and Martin Demichelis lauded Manchester City as a club, the players within their ranks and their history.
The former River Plate technician was asked during his first interview with the Sky Blues: “Have you spoken to any former City players who have shared their experiences about joining the club?”
“Yes, I’ve spoken to Aguero, I’ve also talked to Martin Demichelis. They told me it was a great club with amazing players and a beautiful history. They encouraged me to come here and enjoy it.”
Martin Demichelis raved about Echeverri, which is good news for Manchester City as their former defender managed their latest recruit at River Plate. Another former City player and fellow Argentine, Carlos Tevez called Echeverri an “interesting player” which bodes well for Pep Guardiola.
Aguero already delivered Claudio Echeverri verdict before he joined Man City
Manchester City fans will be excited as Echeverri has been given several stamps of approval by a number of top players in their heyday.
The expectation will be that much like Alvarez, the gifted attacker becomes a key squad player for City and eventually, a starter at the Etihad Stadium.
Sergio Aguero already seems to be a huge fan of Echeverri’s, sharing a sublime solo goal of his on X against Gimnasia in March.
Aguero captioned his post by simply naming the man in question followed by an emoji.
It is not common for such legends of the game to go out of their way to herald young prospects like Echeverri.
But all the signs suggest that Manchester City have signed an absolute gem.
